Peekaboo!

Thursday, November 26, 2009

Can you even deny those puppy eyes?  It baffles me how some people can be so selfish and so bloodsucking desire money they'll do whatever it takes to increase their financial status.  I hope those puppies and kitties will have a better life after this horrible ordeal.

Humane society brass face cruelty charges

The Ontario SPCA has raided the Toronto Humane Society and laid charges against five staff members, including its president, the Toronto Star reports.

The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says staff members are to be charged with cruelty to animals and obstruction of a police officer. The Star reports that Police and the OSPCA remain inside the offices of the 11 River St. location in Toronto.

The Star reports that president Tim Trow is charged with animal cruelty, conspiracy to commit cruelty to animals and obstruction of a police officer. Head veterinarian Steve Sheridan, shelter manager Gary McCracken, veterinarian Romeo Bernadino and shelter supervisor Andy Bechtel were also arrested on animal cruelty charges, the Star reports.

CBC reports that allegations, after a six-month investigation, are that four cats were found to be in distress.

The charges stem from an investigation that was launched in early 2009 in response to allegations of animal cruelty. The search warrant was also executed at a private residence.

The OSPCA says they found four cats in the June 2nd inspection that were in distress and suffering from dehydration.

CP24 reported that there's extensive evidence that the animals were not being fed and watered at appropriate times.

Just saw this on youtube.  How cute is that little puppy!!!!!  He'll become an amazing howler one day!

Little Archie was very curious about the stairs.  The first week he arrived in our home, he would triumphantly run up 2 to 3 steps on the stairs and suddenly panicked as he got stuck due to the height.  This picture was taken when he was stranded on the second step of the stairs, desperately batting his eyelashes and making the infamous puppy look, hoping to get rescued.  "Help me down~  help me down~  I'll be good~  I will even leave Papa's slippers alone~  Pleeeeeeeease~"

Surprise!

Archie came as a surprise to almost everyone in the family.  Mom suddenly got an impulse one day and dragged Dad down the block to the local SPCA.  There they saw Archie and his sister just arriving at the SPCA.

As usual, Dad put up his best defense and said they’re there only for a visit.  But he totally underestimated Archie’s ultimate puppy power!  Unlike his little sister who was sleeping at a corner, Archie daringly marched up to face Dad.

And we know how the story goes.  Even Dad’s impenetrable defense was no match for Archie’s killer puppy look.

Archie: 1 vs. Dad: 0
It was a complete victory for Archie!

It is just by chance we got a cocker spaniel that is just right for our family, but choosing a puppy for your family is actually a crucial step. You have to consider all the family members in your family.  Are young children or elderly people in your house?  Elderly people are just as in risk as young children.  Even if it is a small size dog, they have enough power to knock over an elderly person with unstable physical balance.  For example, while my Grandma is using her walker doing her daily exercise at home, we have to make sure that Archie is secured at a place where he cannot trip Grandma over or scare her in any way to cause her losing her balance.  Although Archie is considered a small-sized dog, he has the power to push Grandma around while she's on her wheelchair.  It does sound cute, doesn't it?  But remember, if he were to get excited and jump on Grandma while she's standing up, it would lead to a very bad accident.

Archie is an adorable Cocker Spaniel we adopted from the SPCA. His mommy was abandoned when she was pregnant. Luckily, a wonderful lady fostered the mommy and provided all her puppies a great home until they reached six weeks old. Archie has often been described as a fluffy teddy bear by a lot of people. Ironically, his favorite companion is his teddy bear. He loves to drag his teddy wherever he goes and cuddles up to it when he's getting tired. When outside, he likes to roll around in the sun chewing on little flowers on the lawn. At night time, he enjoys curling up under the sofa and watching TV with the rest of the family.
